TGIF - Let's start something new!

Made it to Friday! TGIF
And I'm planning a new quilt!
Debby Kaffunger is hosting a mystery on her quiltaholics site mid April. I haven't sewn one of her mysteries for a long time, so I am looking forward to sewing this one.
If you belong to her quiltaholics yahoo group you can get all the preliminary details.
The problem (for me) is that it's a 2 colour quilt, and I can't do a 2 fabric quilt (too monotonous to sew and I know I will lose interest), so I will have to go scrappy!
Here is the Kansas Troubles collection I'm thinking of using for this mystery. I have lots of the lights, but I'm think I might have to take out the mustard and the red. Any suggestions?!?

I love the Kansas trouble line...just my colours. I think you could possibly use the gold as a dark very dark light? And if you are bored easily than leave the red in, I don't think it looks out of place. Mystery quilts are great and this way yours will look very different from everyone elses!
I would love to join in but I have too many things(quilts) on the go already. I am hoping that tonight is as productive as last weekend was. Happy Friday!!!

The mustard and red match, but if you take it out, it would be easier for you to follow her two color theme, by substituting your lights for one color and darks for the other color she is using.

Oh, I don't do mysteries, so I am the wrong person to ask (but I love KT fabrics and have my 5th quilt made in them currently in the works).
I also don't do well with two color quilts. I think Missy has a good suggestion, but I think the red would make a good dark--the "mustard" is the only one I might think about not using.
Good luck with this. I will be interested to see how it works out. : )

Lovely fabric. I would take the mustard out and add in plum. Should be fun.

I personally would leave both for now , you will know more later once you get started but they look fine to me. Sounds like fun.

I love the KT line..... one of these day's I'll get some more.
hmmmm. I'd go with what you have for colors. The gold would be a nice pop in the 'lights' and the red a nice pop in the 'darks'. Or... just wait and decide once the mystery starts. Great group of fabrics so it will turn out lovely any way you go.

Great fabrics! If you really want to use the red and the mustard, then I would get rid of the 3 lightest lights, that way the darker lights will blend into the mustard color better and the red will read as a 'bright'.

A two color quilt is hard for me too. Good choice to go scrappy.

I like the mustard and red, it will give the quilt some zing. I'm with you, I like the look of two color quilts, but too boring to work on them. Give me color, lots of color!

I'm with Janet O - I'd take out the mustard and leave the red in. But as others have said, you will probably know more as you get into the mystery. And whatever you do will be lovely, I'm sure.

I love the KT line of fabrics. I also love the mustard & red. Honestly, I am more of an organized, two-color person. I like repetition. Too many scrappy colors get me confused and they end up pooling together. Oh well.
