Design Wall Monday - Carrie Nation blocks

Participating in the Rainbow Scrap Challenge for the last couple of years has been such an awesome experience.  I have to say thank you again to our host Angela for such an inspired idea. It has really helped me to get my scraps more under control, and into finished blocks and quilts.
Since green month (April) I have been making some 8" Carrie Nation blocks using scraps of the colour of the month. I just finished a few more blocks last week and decided to get them all out (25 so far) and put them up on the design wall to see how the project is progressing.

I must admit... I LOVE it so far!
I am using Bonnie Hunter's concept of "neutrals" in this project. You can read her great tips here.
Putting a project up on the design wall can really give a it (or you!) a boost of creative energy, if you like what you see.
And I DO!
I think I'll make about 75 more blocks.
What are you laughing it? It could happen!
If you like these blocks too, the pattern is here. Get sewing!

I've enjoyed Angela's rainbow scrap challenge for 2 years, too. Forces me to creatively address my scraps :D

Love your quilt Kathy, it looks amazing. Looking forward seeing it with the additional 75 squares.

Laughing along with you! Never could laugh at you. We are all just as crazy to make the quilts we are making some days. Remember, I have one with 88 pieces in one 12" square a la Bonnie Hunter in the works.

I've never sewn along with the rainbow scrap challenge. Seeing how you've done it with a specific block each month, I may try to do it next year. I hope Angela keeps it going. Love your rainbow quilt. And, sure, you can do those extra blocks as leader/enders. Just precut a bunch of them and sew as you work on other things. No pressure, no time crunch just an easy way to a quilt.

Fabulous! I love the neutrals and the bright colors just pop in the design. Even the darker colors look bright. Love it!!! I love putting my blocks on the wall just to see what is happening. It's motivation.
And I would never laugh at 75 more blocks. Quickly you will only need less than 50. It's amazing how fast it happens.

I've been admiring your blocks each time you show them and now it's fun to see them all together. It's looking lovely. And ONLY 75 more? HA!

Did you really say 75 more?!? More power to ya! : )
It looks scrumptious so far. I figure with 75 more of these blocks you will be using this as living room carpet? How big are these blocks anyway?

very bright and cheerful but far too many squares to match for my level of patchwork

The thumbnail photo on DWM caught my eye! The color progression + simple block design = striking. I came across the Carrie Nation block in one of Donna Lynn Thomas's books years and years ago, but I've never made a quilt with it. Hmmmm.....maybe now's the time!
